Brad Foote Gear Works is hiring a Maintenance Technician II position on 1st shift in our manufacturing facility based in Cicero, IL. This role ensures operation of machinery and CNC equipment by completing preventive and maintenance repair requirements on motors, conveyor systems, and all mechanical aspects of the CNC's and equipment; following Brad Foote's procedures effectively while adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Diagnose, disassemble and determine the number of repairs necessary
• Replaces or repair defective parts and reassembles equipment assuring proper functioning and quality performance of such equipment
• Lay out, assemble, install and maintain hydraulic systems and pneumatic equipment
• Remove/install parts necessary for repairs by: using hoists, cranes, forklift and other special tools
• Identify parts used for repairs and aid in maintaining critical part spares
• Fabricate machine parts by inspecting used parts; using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
• Level and align spindles, pallet systems, tool changers, and axis on a CNC or manual machine
• Basic electrical testing of equipment and phasing connection knowledge
• Perform preventive maintenance using CMMs software or equivalent
• Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests to supervisors and outside service technicians
• Keep buildings, equipment and work areas clean and hazard free
• Work safe and use lock out/tag out as necessary
• Report any machine deficiencies found to supervision
• Perform facilities maintenance and up-keeping when necessary
• All other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent education
• Facilities maintenance: 2 years
• CNC Repair/Maintenance mechanic: 3 years

Specialized Skills/Knowledge/Ability

• Use hand and power tools
• Able to read hydraulic/mechanical prints

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend documents including technical information. Ability to speak effectively with vendors and as a representative of the Company.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Strong ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several variables at the same time.

Physical Demands:

The employee must have the ability to keep hands and arms steady; must have the ability to quickly move and must be able to grasp with two hands; must have the ability to use the abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing. The employee may occasionally lift and or move up to 80 pounds or more with assistance.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to or works near moving mechanical parts; change in indoor climate conditions and vibration.Will be exposed to seasonal conditions.Will also be exposed to dirt, dust and other by products of heavy fabrication work.
