JOB TITLE : Event Technician l
CLASSIFICATION : Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT : CRE / Programs & Facilities
SUPERVISOR : Events Technician II and Programs & Facilities Manager
SALARY : $34,278 to $39,420 Annually
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
To perform a variety of semi-skilled plumbing, carpentry, grounds maintenance, custodial tasks, provide supplies and equipment for the performance of duties;
and to perform a variety of related tasks as assigned. To direct and supervise use of public facilities (Kiwanis Community House), including public relation skills in administering facility schedule and policies.
Schedule will include weekends, evenings, nights, and some holidays.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
aid with rental set-up and tear-down as directed.
Perform maintenance in the repair of offices such as : hang doors, install door closures and hardware; repair damaged drywall, plaster, roofing, and doors;
repair or replace window frames and broken windows; paint of walls, trim, etc.; maintain floors to include wood, tile, and carpeted areas using appropriate procedures.
Responsible for the installation and maintenance of equipment; make recommendation on purchases of equipment and supplies;
inspect building and grounds for repairs needed; perform visual check of heating / air conditioning systems.
sweep, clear and maintain sidewalks and curb flow lines; employ automated and / or manual means to remove snow and ice.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Required :
High school diploma or GED with experience with customer service, custodial, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds maintenance.
Preferred :
Two (2) years of experience with customer service, custodial, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds maintenance. Familiarity with maintenance equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing.
The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 50 pounds.
Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
Working Environment :
Position requires irregular hours, nights, weekends, and Holidays, working directly with the Public and the City work force.
Exposure to inclement weather. Traveling from site-to-site walking and occasionally pushing or otherwise operating equipment.
Exposure to waste, infectious materials, vehicular traffic, noise, dust smoke fumes, and cleaning chemicals.
