Responsibilities of the Payment Coordinator The Payment Coordinator performs professional duties in the creation and maintenance of accounting records, verification and documentation of financial transactions, and preparation and management of agency budgets.Monitors all incoming online transactions. Posts all college revenues such as cash, credit card, check, web payments, payment plan payments, and EFT, to various accounts including, but not limited to student accounts, sponsorships, and restricted accounts. Deposits checks received from various state agencies and programs accurately.Opens and closes new cash sessions daily. Reconciles cash drawer to daily reports to ensure accuracy in posting to the general ledger.Prepares deposits for the bank daily as well as posts to the ledger timely to assist in the accurate reconciliation of bank statements. Maintains the daily cash receipts journals, invoice registers, financial aid transmittal reports, and bank deposit reports. Stores all receipts and documentation electronically for report preparation and audit requests.Applies returned checks and appropriate fines to accounts and notifies account holder. Submits bad debt information to the SC Setoff Debt Program and collection agency.Manages all phone, in-person, and email inquires related to accounts receivable to address concerns, student refund questions, and billing questions. Ensures accounts are accurate.Performs other duties as assigned including, but not limited to assisting with audit functions and assisting Business Office staff in implementing financial procedural changes.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and related financial experience. A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for the required work experience. Must have a valid driver's license. NETC Preferred Requirements: A bachelor's degree plus 15 semester hours in accounting related courses; or, an associatedegree with accounting related courses plus 2 years accounting experience; or, a high school diploma plus 4 years accounting experience.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Must be able to lift and carry files, books, and reports weighing up to 25 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for intermittent periods of time. Must be able to reach, bend and twist at the waist to perform filing, desk work, and operate general office equipment. Minimal overnight travel may be required. Must attend mandatory college events as scheduled.
