This is a fulltime seasonal role at a children's residential camp. Room and board is included as part of the compensation package. Incumbent should expect to work 8-9 weeks this summer.
General Responsibilities:
1. Participate in camp activities to the extent necessary for proper awareness and supervisory functioning.
2. Lead in the interpretation of camp objectives, policies, and rules.
3. Provide leadership, guidance and supervision to counseling staff and campers, contributing towards the provision of a positive camp experience for both campers and staff.
4. Be an integral part of the overall program at The Barton Center.
5. Use all skills, talents, experience and knowledge to positively influence the summer camp experience in all areas of camp life.
6. Uphold The Barton Center code of conduct at all times.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Meet daily with the Camps and Program Director to see what needs to be addressed during the day.
2. Check in with other admin team members throughout the day to see what they may need guidance or assistance with.
3. Assist co-staff members with camper/staff issues or concerns as needed.
4. Assist with the supervision of staff and evaluating overall interaction between staff, campers and parents.
5. Assist in the evaluation of other admin team members for halfway and post summer.
6. Provide positive insight and feedback to staff during staff meetings and when approached with questions.
7. Be present and enthusiastic on opening and closing days, being sure to communicate with as many parents as possible.
8. Assist with disciplinary decisions as needed.
9. Be open to answering questions and hearing concerns from staff members.
10. Other tasks as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum 21 years of age by the start of camp.
2. Ability to interact and relate with campers and staff from all backgrounds as shown through positive interview, past staff evals (if applicable) and references.
3. Must have current CPR and First Aid certification.
4. Ability to take responsibility for the administration of the camp as needed.
5. Ability to act in a leadership, administrative and supervisory capacity and be a positive role model for both staff and campers.
6. Ability to accept supervision and guidance.
7. Good character, integrity, and ability to adapt to a camp setting.
