Welcome to Regent Law, the law firm reimagined. Our main office is in south Charlotte, North Carolina, and we have an additional office in Mooresville, North Carolina. The Regent Law team came together believing that shedding layers of overhead and traditional law firm hierarchy results in a more agile, efficient, and attentive law firm for our employees and clients. Although we do things differently than traditional law firms, we provide the same level of trusted legal counsel that clients expect.

Total Compensation:

  • Salary:$45K-65K a year
  • Full benefits package: employer-paid medical insurance (dental and vision available), Simple IRA with an employer match, available long-term and short-term disability insurance, employer-provided life insurance, discretionary and performance-based bonuses, and paid holidays.
  • Work location/schedule: In person Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. However, flexibility to work-from-home on an as-needed basis.
  • Flexibility: Generous work-from-home and PTO policies.
  • Company provided equipment for work-from-home.

General Summary:

We expect our paralegals to be highly organized, handle pressure well, understand the importance of deadlines, and act with the utmost integrity. This position manages attorneys’ litigation calendars, drafts documents, prepares motions for filing, updates clients, maintains proper workflow, assists with billing invoices and distribution, and time entry, as well as the day-to-day operations of the law practice. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, be customer service-minded, proactive, a team player, and have a sense of urgency.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Draft and file civil court pleadings and motions;
  • Prepare and send correspondence to clients and third parties (e.g., enclosure memos, certificates of service, rule 45 letters, subpoenas);
  • Create and maintain pleadings and discovery notebooks;
  • Maintain and organize electronic files;
  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices;
  • Aid attorneys in the preparation and analysis of discovery requests, equitable distribution spreadsheets, child support calculations, and financial affidavits (short & long form);
  • Gather relevant case information from a variety of sources;
  • Liaison between the firm and external third parties;
  • Perform administrative duties: answer the phone, process incoming mail, calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, and manage logistics.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a family law or litigation paralegal;
  • Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices, etc.;
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Listens actively to what others are saying to achieve understanding. Shares information with others and facilitates the open exchange of ideas and information; is open, honest, and straightforward with others.;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Integrity, which includes traits such as: expressing gratitude for others, valuing honesty and openness, taking responsibility and accountability for your actions, good and bad, respecting yourself and others around you no matter where you are, helping those in need without sacrificing your own health or needs, demonstrating reliability and trustworthiness, and showing patience and flexibility, even when unexpected obstacles show up.
  • Computer skills: Must be adept in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word. Experience with Google Workspace, Clio Manage, Mac (Apple) based operating systems, legal research platforms, and e-discovery preferred.
  • NC Paralegal Certification or other related certification preferred;
  • Notary Public desired.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish is a plus.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
