Shipping Clerk - 1st shift hours (8am - 4:30pm, 9am - 5:30pm, or 10am - 6:30pm)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Shipping Clerk to join our team at our climate-controlled warehouse facility in Jeffersonville, IN. As a Shipping Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of outgoing shipments. Your responsibilities will include preparing shipping documents, organizing and packaging items for shipment, coordinating with carriers, and maintaining accurate records of outgoing orders.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping documents, including packing slips, bills of lading, and shipping labels.
- Verify the accuracy of outgoing shipments by comparing items to packing lists and invoices.
- Package items securely for shipment, taking care to protect fragile or sensitive items.
- Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries, and ensure that shipments are dispatched in a timely manner.
- Communicate with internal departments to ensure that orders are processed and shipped according to customer requirements and deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area, including ensuring that all shipping supplies are adequately stocked.
- Use computerized systems to track shipments and update shipping records accurately.
- Assist in inventory management tasks, including cycle counting and reconciling inventory discrepancies.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper handling of hazardous materials if applicable.
- Participate in training sessions and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance shipping processes and efficiency.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping or warehouse environment preferred.
- Familiarity with shipping software and systems, such as UPS WorldShip or FedEx Ship Manager, is a plus.
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work in a climate-controlled environment.
- Flexibility to work occasional overtime and weekends as needed.
