Responsibilities:

The Sponsor is seeking a Systems Engineer (SE) who will support varied data sets to gain insights. The ideal candidate is adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for optimization and identifying trends. This individual must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms, and creating/running simulations. The candidate must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams.

Responsibilities for the SE include, but not limited to:

  • Work with the Sponsor to support data transformations.
  • Mine and analyze data from databases.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Coordinate with different teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
  • Work collaboratively with individuals in other organizations to develop integrated models that integrate data with other types of data to show linkages and patterns.
  • Use an array of data analytic techniques to analyze and present data.
  • Respond to data inquiries with creative visual data presentations.

All personnel coming into the organization undergo an additional security review that can take anywhere from 7 business days to 30 days.

Qualifications:
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models, or equivalent experience/degree combination.
  • Proven experience in conducting advanced modeling and data analysis, applying varied mathematical and data analytic techniques and developing models.
  • Ability to translate complex findings into an easily understood narrative (i.e., tell story with the data) in graphical, verbal, and written form.
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Coding knowledge and experience with several languages: C, C , Java, JavaScript, etc.
  • Experience with distributed data/computing tools like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, MySQL, etc.
