The Opportunity:

Test raw materials and finished products for microbiological growth, as well as probiotic enumeration to determine products are manufactured safely for the consumer. Work cross functionally to ensure company & customer expectations are met, while managing assigned day-to-day testing in a way that meets team and departmental goals. Write essential reports for Laboratory Services.

  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Follow and ensure compliance to quality system and cGMP programs.
  • Create sample tables for raw materials and finished products for daily analysis.
  • Review data for ICP-MS, GC-MS, ID, HPLC and Microbial results as needed.
  • Contribute to Laboratory Services documents such as STMs, SOPs, quarterly OOS report, and review reports for others.
  • Take chart readings for all laboratory refrigerators, ovens, incubators, and stability chambers and replace charts as directed.
  • Log samples into the laboratory, and sign raw materials out of the laboratory through internal ERP system upon completion of all testing.
  • Aid in OOS investigations.
  • Perform ID testing using HPTLC, FTIR, and organoleptic procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Non-supervisory role.
  • Must have college degree in a science related field
  • Some work experience preferred.
  • No certifications or licenses required.
  • Must have moderate math skills.
  • Moderate reading skills required.
  • Basic computer skills needed.
  • Must have moderate language skills.
  • Must have moderate writing skills.
  • Must be willing to learn new tasks and procedures.
  • Ability to perform all essential position duties and responsibilities efficiently and effectively with or without reasonable accommodation without posing a direct safety threat to self or others.
  • Maintain a regular and dependable work attendance record with few instances of unplanned and/or unexpected absence.

  • Lab noise may include vacuum pumps, sonic baths, instrumentation, chillers, stability chambers, refrigerators, autoclaves, tapped density, and other equipment.
  • Protective equipment such as safety glasses, lab coats, respirators, gloves, hearing protection, masks, back belts, or cGMP attire suits may be required or recommended in certain situations.

Production Area conditions includes:

  • Exposure to food ingredients, including food allergens, in free-floating powder form.
  • Moving mechanical parts, vibrations, and risk of electrical shock.
  • Noise level usually moderate and often constant.
  • Protective equipment such as gloves, hearing protection, masks, back belts, or cGMP attire suits may be required or recommended in certain situations.
