JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Accounts Receivable SpecialistPosition Type: Full TimeDepartment:  FinanceFLSA Status: Non-ExemptLocation: Greater Austin Area/ HybridSUMMARYThe Accounts Receivable (“A/R”) Specialist will be responsible for accounts receivable, billing and collections duties. This will include but is not limited to collections of outstanding accounts receivable, resolving billing discrepancies, facilitating customer inquiries, and reducing accounts receivable delinquency. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Serve as liaison between client/facility and their respective insurance carrier
  • Review AR on a daily basis to ensure reimbursement goals are maintained and achieved.
  • Able to interact with various third party insurance carriers and clearinghouses accurately and timely to identify and resolve systematic issues.
  • Collect and submit data in order to objectively identify patterns of intervention, which result in desired patient outcomes.
  • Evaluates payments/denials received and ensures claims are escalated with respective insurance companies correctly.
  • Ability to deal with highly sensitive accounts and exercise good judgment in solving complex situations.
  • Consistently looks for areas to maximize claim reimbursements.
  • Maintains broad knowledge of insurance plans, medical terminology, billing procedures, government regulations, and medical codes.
  • Provide feedback to management based on research and calls to payers to establish payer behavioral trends.
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with peers, and facilities. Follow appropriate communication channels through organizational structure.
  • Observe confidentiality of patient information and HIPAA regulations.
  • Adapt to changes in a positive manner, giving constructive feedback. Work as an effective team member, collaborating with other disciplines in the provision of care.
  • Participate in professional, continuing education related to their field and keep a record of continuing education attendance.
  • Identify performance improvement opportunities and participate in quality improvement endeavors.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as other accounting software programs.
  • Ability to operate related office equipment, such as computers, 10-key calculator, and copier.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
  • At least two years or more in accounts receivable, collections, debt solutions and/or payment solutions required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff and customers.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel and Outlook) as well as the Google Suite, Salesforce, and NetSuite.
