Western Home Communities is Hiring a Systems Administrator II Near Cedar, IA

Join our growing Digital Services team! The Systems Administrator II positionpartners with the Western Home organization and its affiliates as an internal technology organization (Tech Of Ages) to provide a great customer experience for core IT functions. The Systems Administrator II is responsible for creating, maintaining and enhancing the necessary infrastructure for all the information and communications needs of our customers. The team works with new and existing clients to innovate solutions for the efficient allocation of computer hardware, network systems, server and application development and maintenance, working and collaborating with necessary stakeholders across multiple departments to design innovative systems to meet business needs.

What You’ll Do as a Systems Administrator II:

  • Assists with the daily administration of the network/server environment, correcting areas that require improvement and making recommended changes as needed.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for networks, system operations, and product assembly and installation.
  • Is familiar with and understands design concepts for disaster recovery and can execute the plan as needed; creates and tests backup plans. 
  • Monitors network performance and performs testing to provide diagnosis of issues and deploys solutions within a semi-complex environment. 
  • Installs upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment. 
  • Performs complex maintenance with minimal supervision or coaching. 
  • Creates business cases for systems and solutions that will drive better business results. 
  • Designs and maintains processes for documenting work within developed systems, making changes as needed. 

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Network Administration or other related field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience required in network management.
  • Broad knowledge on a range of computer systems, hardware, software, networking and applications.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively to users as needed and to provide guidance and direction to users as needed.
  • Competence in analyzing and resolving complex computer problems.
  • Experience in performing upgrades on computer systems and networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects within a specified time frame.
  • Strong commitment to working cooperatively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to exceptional performance in a high-stress environment, with ability to nurture positive relationships with staff, residents and the public.
