Duties

• Participate in the development of various planning and operational documents including but not limited to: the Project Master Plan, Operational Management Plan, Project Safety Plan, etc.
• Develop and implement specific land use plans for the project.
• Implement specific land use plans for diverse water resources projects.
• Participate in conservation, preservation, restoration and use of project natural and cultural resources.
• Enforce Title 36 CFR by educating the visiting public on project purposes, conditions, policies, and regulations.
• Patrol project lands and waters to prevent unauthorized use, trespass, and destruction of property and insure compliance with rules and regulations.
• Establish and maintain productive working relations with other Natural Resource Specialists in the District and with State and Federal Land Management agencies.
• Interact with the general public and special groups.
• Deals regularly with the public in high stress situations.
• Coordinates and executes activities related to one or more of the following programs: recreation management, park administration, shoreline management, forestry, fisheries and wildlife, soil conservation, and public education.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires a valid, State-issued motor vehicle driver's license.
• This position requires a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) small boat operator license within two years of employment.
• This position requires the wearing of a uniform.
• Serves as an incidental motor vehicle operator. Operates an automobile, light truck, ATV or motorboat to accomplish assigned duties. Employee must be able to operate motor vehicles without danger to self or others.
• Must be able to maintain required Corps of Engineers certification for operation of motorboats.
• Normal workweek will include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• May be required to work in adverse weather conditions (e.g. heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.).
• Required to acquire and maintain Title 36 Citation Authority through the USACE Visitor Assistance Training Program within one year of appointment.
