Chenega Professional Services Strategic Business Unit is Hiring a Victim advocate Near Carson, CO

Position contingent on contract award - details below are subject to change based on final award.

Chenega Services & Federal Solutions, LLC , a Chenega Professional Services’ company, is looking for a Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate to provide advocacy support services in support of the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Family Advocacy Program (FAP).

The Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate will be responsible for all comprehensive services to include Family needs assessment, victim advocacy response, crisis intervention, safety planning, lethality assessments, restricted / unrestricted reporting, victim services, court accompaniment, resource coordination, training and other supportive services that prevent child maltreatment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and assess initial victim advocacy services to victims of domestic abuse who contact the office, while arranging appropriate services and emotional support for the victims.
  • Support services include but are not limited to : arranging transportation during crisis; providing physical, emotional, and educational support while the victim engages medical, legal, and law enforcement systems;
  • assisting in securing protective orders; providing referrals to obtain appropriate services for continued care; assisting to secure emergency food and / or shelter;
  • Conduct education classes, initial intake, community linkages, crisis intervention, safety plans, case management, including office visits.
  • Conduct briefings to large and small groups of Soldiers, Civilians, and Commanders.
  • In collaboration with leadership, establish training subjects, agendas, schedules, certification inspections, and other training / certification-related actions.

Once training subjects are identified, develop the training curriculum(s) and training materials.

  • Maintain confidentiality of services aligned with victim reporting preferences.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of public awareness and annual FAP related campaigns, as appropriate.
  • Operate within established guidelines of the FAP and Domestic Abuse Victim Advocacy Program (DAVAP).
  • Develop and disseminate resource material.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, marriage, Family, child counseling, counseling or behavioral science, education, community or public health.

4 additional years of comparable experience can be substituted for the degree requirement.

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience providing comprehensive assistance and support to victims of domestic abuse (preferably with military families).
  • Must be certified by the National Advocate Credentialing Program within 1 year of being hired.
  • Must attend the distance learning Family Advocacy Staff Training (FAST) within the first two years on being hired.
  • Available during core business hours of 7 : 30AM to 5PM, Monday through Friday. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Maintain a valid motor vehicle license and have reliable transportation. Be willing to drive within a 50 mile radius.
  • Able to educate clients on responses and resources pertaining to domestic abuse.
  • Able to work with military and civilian : medical, social service, law enforcement, and legal personnel on behalf of victims.
  • Maintain effective public speaking skills and conduct briefings.
  • Able to assess risk, develop, implement, and evaluate safety and intervention plans.
  • Able to communicate with victims, develop relationships, and work with individuals and Families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Family violence, traumatic advocacy services, environmental stressors, safety planning, risk assessments, community resources, and federal and state laws pertaining to domestic abuse, Family law, and the Victim Rights Bill.

Final salary determination based on skill-set, qualifications, and approved funding.
