The Challenge (Job Summary)

As a medical charge entry specialist, you have the opportunity to live our core values every day by helping our patients in all walks of life, providing high quality care, working with an excellent team, being a trusted resource for our patients and team members, and having an impact in the community through our engagement and volunteer efforts. In addition, the ideal candidate will be responsible for office and out of office charge entry, including but not limited to maintenance of scanned fee tickets and patient demographic/insurance corrections as needed.

Your Day to Day & Essential Functions:

  • You will be required to comply with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and policies.
  • Epic experience preferred but not required
  • You will maintain fee ticket system including creating and update all of charge entry.
  • You will corrects office fee tickets including checking for accurate patient demographic information and total charges by monitoring patient’s chart to verify ticket information.
  • You will work with other Central Billing Department team members to provide clerical support to the department
  • You will verify and update patient information.
  • You will need the ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • You will be required to maintain strictest confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed (Competencies, Education):

  • Ability and Word processing/computer skills.
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • One-year experience in healthcare setting, preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of medical coding policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of health insurance processing.
  • Skill in using computer coding programs and systems.
  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems.
  • Ability to examine patient insurance documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to work effectively with other team members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.

Work may be stressful at times.
