Orthodontic Assistant
Duties:
- Assist the orthodontist in providing quality dental care to patients
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patient procedures
- Take and develop dental x-rays using digital imaging systems
- Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic health records using Eaglesoft or Dentrix software
- Perform patient assessments, including taking vital signs and documenting medical history
- Assist with orthodontic procedures, such as placing brackets, adjusting wires, and taking impressions
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide post-treatment instructions
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
- Maintain infection control protocols to prevent the spread of diseases
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred
- Current certification in dental radiography (X-Ray) required
- Proficiency in using Eaglesoft or Dentrix dental software preferred
- Strong knowledge of dental anatomy and terminology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment and follow instructions accurately
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in stressful situations
