Wellbridge Addiction Treatment and Research is Hiring a Fitness and Wellness Specialist Near Calverton, NY

POSITION SUMMARY

The Fitness and Wellness Specialist will deliver care throughout Wellbridge and is responsible for the day-to-day planning and implementation of fitness and wellness programming on a licensed inpatient medically supervised stabilization and withdrawal program, rehabilitation program, and reintegration program. Carries out the Wellbridge vision, values and overall strategic planning, clinical management, and patient care. Promotes fitness and wellness service standards and creates a patient-focused caring environment while addressing and meeting the individual needs of all patients. Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues, nurses, and other healthcare team members.

SHIFT SCHEDULE: Tuesday to Saturday (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical

  • Provide individual and group activities to promote healthy leisure, emotional wellness, self-care, and physical fitness for all treatment programs.
  • Direct care delivery including but not limited to assessment of physiologic and psychosocial health status.
  • Coordinates array of therapeutic interventions using on-site wellness center, local and regional resources.
  • Maintain understanding of current treatments, knowledge, and practices in addiction care and prioritize the use of best and evidence-based practices.
  • Develop and maintain standard policies, procedures to ensure quality services and compliance with accrediting entities.
  • Maintain documentation, patient files, and statistics as required by departmental policies and funding sources.
  • Monitor supplies for outdoor activities, wellness center, and fitness equipment.

Supervision and Support

  • Model the Wellbridge philosophy of patient-centeredness, empowerment, and cultural proficiency and seek supervision from clinical staff.
  • Maintain a safe and caring environment for patients that is conducive to positive health teaching and maintenance, patient, and family expectations of care.
  • Recognize the need for patient care to be delivered in a culturally sensitive manner and model sensitivity to all staff.

Collaboration

  • Support a culture of high quality of care across organization and engage all staff in the value of fitness and wellness in addiction care.
  • Field clinically related telephone calls and respond.
  • Support efforts of Wellbridge research team to implement program improvement.
  • Facilitate the effective provision of support services essential to team-based patient care.
  • Provide crisis support to patients as needed in emergency situations.

Planning and Coordination

  • Work closely with the treatment team, inclusive of medical providers, to coordinate services to patients.
  • Contribute ideas for growth and development of organization.
  • Thoughtfully plan weekly fitness and wellness activities
  • Develop, oversee, and collaborate schedule for fitness and wellness.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Personal Trainer Certification. Certification must be obtained within one (1) year of employment.
  • BLS, required; ACLS or other certification, as required by department. Certification must be obtained within one (1) year of employment.
  • Demonstrated communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal/customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with data management and electronic records.
  • Strong problem solving, conceptual, and analytical skills.
  • A positive attitude towards and sensitivity to the needs of individuals with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s level degree in Recreational Therapy, Exercise Science, Health Education, or related-behavioral sciences.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) designation
  • Experience providing treatment for addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders for at least one (1) year.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with all relevant healthcare standards: OASAS, ASAM, JCAHO, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $31.00 per hour
