What you bring to SBHG (Qualifications):

  • Master’s degree in nursing preferred. BSN required. It may be waived for RNs with 15 years of experience.
  • Three (3) years of direct service experience with seriously mentally disordered clients as a Director of Nursing, adolescent experience preferred.
  • CA license as an RN
  • Valid CA Driver's license and clear current DMV printout.

How you will make a difference (Job Overview):

The Senior Director of Nursing Services oversees the development and management of nursing, clinical, and medical services across both inpatient and outpatient settings at SBHG and its affiliates. This includes program design, implementation, and oversight, as well as leadership in infection prevention and control. Responsibilities encompass recruitment, evaluation, and hiring of nursing staff, temporary management during vacancies or absences, budget participation, professional development, and support for quality assurance activities. Additionally, they monitor treatment planning and groups, identify areas for improvement, model effective services, ensure clients receive appropriate care, and develop new treatment options.

Division/Program Overview:

The DON is responsible for overseeing treatment planning and services to improve client care and collaborating with staff to implement enhancements. Manages nursing operations for new programs, ensuring safe and therapeutic environments. Supports clinical and program directors in maintaining a high standard of care, evaluating staff performance, and integrating physician services effectively. Develops and evaluates program strategies, monitors performance indicators, and provides leadership for quality improvement projects. Keeps abreast of industry trends, offering education and training to nursing staff and facilitating the integration of mental health care with primary and substance abuse treatment. Coordinates infection prevention represents the clinical program to stakeholders, and assists in recruitment and training. Additionally, participates in quality management systems to meet accreditation standards.
