Position Title: Resident Advocate

Department: Residential Services

Status: Part Time

Overview:

The Resident Liaison at the Foundation for Independent Living (FIL) serves as a vital link between our residents, their families, and our staff. This role is dedicated to advocating for the needs and rights of residents, facilitating open communication, and ensuring the highest quality of life and satisfaction with our services. By building strong, trust-based relationships and closely monitoring and supporting residents' progress toward their goals, the Resident Liaison plays a key role in fostering an empowered, resident-centered community.

Key Responsibilities

· Resident Advocacy: Act as the primary point of contact for residents and their families, addressing concerns, resolving issues, and advocating for residents' needs and rights with staff and management.

· Assessment and Goal Setting: Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents' strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. Set, monitor, and revise goals in collaboration with residents and their support network.

· Admissions Support: Play an integral role in the resident admissions process, from initial inquiry through move-in, ensuring a smooth and welcoming transition for new residents.

· Family and Resident Communication: Maintain regular communication with family members, providing updates and involving them in care planning and decision-making processes.

· Progress Monitoring: Regularly review resident progress towards goals, facilitating adjustments to plans as needed to support continued growth and independence.

· Collaboration: Work closely with other staff members to advocate for resident needs, contribute to care planning, and ensure a cohesive approach to supporting each resident.

· Other Duties: Perform any other duties or operations as required to maintain workflow, meet schedules, and uphold FIL's quality standards. This includes any special projects or assignments as directed by your supervisor.

· Strong Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with residents, families, and staff both verbally and in writing.

· Problem-Solving and Advocacy: Skilled in identifying issues, developing solutions, and advocating effectively for residents' needs.

· Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, keep detailed records, and track progress towards goals.

· Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a positive and supportive environment.

Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of residents and the organization, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

· Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

· Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, with a focus on administrative support, record-keeping, and scheduling.

· Licensure: Valid Driver’s License and Proof of Automobile Insurance

· Background: Must successfully pass all background checks and MVR (Motor Vehicle Report).

Preferred Education and Experience

· Education: Associates degree in social work, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.

· First Aid: CPR/First Aid certification.

Travel Requirements

Requires some local travel.

Compensation:

· Salary $50K Annually

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 per week

Benefits:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

Ability to Relocate:

  • Coconut Creek, FL 33063: Relocate before starting work (Required)
