Lutheran High School East (Cleveland Heights, OH) is seeking a full-time Spanish instructor for the 2024-2025 school year. The qualified candidate should have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Spanish, Education, or other relevant degree(s). Candidate must be be able to effectively teach various levels of high school Spanish.
In addition to the primary job duties of teaching multiple sections of classes in the Language Department, this position includes the following duties:
Spiritual Leadership
-Model appropriate Christian attitude, language, and behavior with students, families, and other school employees
- Be comfortable working in a faith-based institution
- Be supportive of students' faith formation
Discipline/Rules
- Maintain accurate attendance records
- School Dress Code enforcement
- Hold students accountable for proper discipline inside and outside of class
- Communicate discipline issues appropriately with administration and parents
Classroom Responsibilities
- Prepare engaging lesson plans and projects that challenge students individually on a daily basis
- Integrate technology into lesson plans in a way that increases learning for students
- Regularly grade assignments and return to students in a timely manner
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to enhance student learning
- Clearly state classroom policies and expectations and follow through on them
- Properly prepare for faculty absence with appropriate lesson plans and seating charts
- Be comfortable using virtual meeting technology for instruction when and if needed
Year-to-Year Responsibilities
- Update curriculum as needed
- Attend mandatory faculty meetings
Communication Responsibilities
- Regularly maintain gradebook
- Call, e-mail, or speak face-to-face with parents about academic, social, or spiritual concerns and document the contact in Renweb
- Communicate student concerns with Administration
- Communicate student safety concerns with administration/guidance & appropriate state/governmental agencies
Language Department
- Ideally holds a four-year Bachelor’s Degree or higher in teaching and/or Spanish or related field
- Able to teach various levels of high school Spanish courses
