Butte Rescue Mission is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the homeless community in Southwest Montana. We operate both a Low Barrier emergency shelter called The Sycamore House, as well as a Restoration Program for long-term transitional housing at The Oak House and The Olive House. Our Restoration Program provides support and resources to individuals from all walks of life who are seeking to break the cycle of homelessness and maintain sobriety. Our mission is to offer hope and restoration to every person who comes to our program.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role as a Shelter Coordinator at Butte Rescue Mission. The Shelter Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of The Sycamore House emergency shelter. This includes managing intake procedures, organizing bed assignments, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents, coordinating with community partners for support services, and maintaining a welcoming and supportive environment for those seeking shelter.
Qualifications
- Experience in working with individuals experiencing homelessness or in a social service setting
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively
- Knowledge of community resources and the ability to coordinate with partner organizations
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
- Compassion, empathy, and a commitment to serving those in need
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Bachelor's degree in social work or related field is preferred
- Understanding of trauma-informed care principles is a plus
