Skida is Hiring a Retail Manager Near Burlington, VT

Location: Burlington, Vermont

Skida is seeking a Manager of Retail for our Showroom retail expansion at Skida HQ in Burlington, Vermont. The ideal candidate is a Burlington-area community member who can see beyond our local landscape and support Skida’s broader retail business goals. This position is not remote.

Position Overview:

The Manager of Retail is pivotal in driving the success of our retail operations and creating engaging in-store events to enhance customer experience. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of retail management expertise, strategic thinking, and a passion for creating memorable

events with maximum marketing impact.

Responsibilities:

Retail Operations Management:

  • Grow Skida’s own brick and mortar presence in alignment with sales targets.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Burlington Showroom, ensuring a seamless and positive customer experience.
  • Utilize Point of Sale data to inform management of trends in traffic metrics, customer acquisition, and conversion rate.
  • Responsible for managing Skida's retail business financials to meet budget targets.
  • Project management and launch of an expanded Burlington Flagship initiative.
  • Project management and re-launch the Boulder Pop-Up. 
  • Planning and development of regional Pop-Up and SIS opportunities.
  • Develop and implement effective visual merchandising strategies to optimize product presentation and drive sales.
  • Responsible for in-store pricing and campaign development
  • Monitor inventory levels, analyze sales data, and implement strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Direction and Execution of the Annual Sidewalk Sale
  • Collaboration with local BTV Community partners, Chamber of Commerce, Marketing partners.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and motivate retail staff to deliver exceptional customer service and meet sales targets.

Retail Event Planning and Execution:

  • Plan, organize, and execute a variety of events to drive foot traffic, enhance brand visibility, and increase sales.
  • Lead and organize key retail and partnership events across the USA e.g. Boulder Pop Up launch, Domestic US Ski Team-related retail activations.
  • Negotiate with vendors and others to maximize profitability, establish business relationships with viable vendors.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to create promotional materials and campaigns for events.
  • Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, vendor management, and on-site coordination.
  • Evaluate event success through key performance indicators and customer feedback, making data-driven improvements for future events. 
  • Domestic travel as needed to fulfill these commitments.

Customer Engagement and Relationship Building:

  • Foster strong relationships with customers through personalized interactions and exceptional service.
  • Implement loyalty programs and initiatives to encourage repeat business and customer retention.
  • Gather customer feedback and insights to inform product assortment and enhance the overall shopping experience.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and inspire a team of retail and event staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to ensure staff is knowledgeable about products, services, and event details.
  • Provide performance feedback and support professional development opportunities for team members.

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in retail management, with a focus on driving sales and optimizing store operations.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Budgeting, P&L management.
  • Financial literacy in OPEX drivers of managing a retail establishment.
  • Tech savvy, Shopify POS and Shopify Plus.
  • Demonstrated success in planning and executing events, from concept to completion.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to achieve business objectives.
  • Leadership experience with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
