FTS is Hiring a Collections Supervisor Near Buffalo, NY

  • Demonstrate sufficient product knowledge through the annual product knowledge certification assessment.
  • Verify that credit and collections policies, procedures, and documentation adhere to federal and state regulations.
  • Exhibit expertise in the Fair Debt Collection Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and other relevant collection laws.
  • Possess proficient skills in skip-tracing techniques.
  • Manage loan placements for repossession and collaborate with repossession agencies, ensuring thorough member notification before and after repossession proceedings.
  • Recommend loans for charge-off in line with Loan Policy and provide monthly written recommendations to the Board of Directors.
  • Identify, evaluate, and track portfolio trends, offering regular updates and suggestions to senior management.
  • Conduct routine meetings with branch managers and lending staff to analyze underwriting and collection trends, aiming to minimize delinquency and charge-off rates.
  • Develop and enforce written procedures for the collections process, ensuring adherence across the board.
  • Provide coaching and training to branch managers and staff on effective collection practices, including script development for collection communications.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions to foster innovation in process improvement, specifically targeting delinquency and charge-off reduction.
  • Assist Branch Managers in monitoring delinquent loan payments, personally following up with members via various channels to maintain compliance with state and federal debt collection regulations.
  • Formulate recommendations and documentation for payment plans, workout loans, and modification loans, ensuring accurate reporting and diligent follow-up.
  • Coordinate with external agencies such as attorneys, skip tracers, and collection agencies to safeguard the credit union's interests in both secured and unsecured loans.
  • Engage with members on asset recovery accounts to facilitate payment, propose payment plans, or refer cases for further collection actions.
  • Oversee the initiation and monitoring of judgments, garnishments, and levies.
  • Manage all aspects of the credit dispute process, including identification, recommendations, and system updates using platforms like Insight, e-Oscar, and Pacer.
  • Execute right of offset, removal of account privileges, and credit line reductions in accordance with departmental protocols and guidelines.
  • Uphold a high level of tact, professionalism, and confidentiality in collections work to safeguard member rights while representing the credit union.
  • Possess a strong understanding of collections procedures and demonstrate current experience as a collector. Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
