Saint John's Catholic Prep is Hiring a High School English Teacher Near Buckeystown, MD

High School English Teacher – full-time

In preparation for the 2024-2025 school year, Saint John’s Catholic Prep is soliciting resumes for possible openings in the discipline of English.

Saint John’s Catholic Prep’s is searching for caring, career-minded education professionals to serve as part of our English department. The positions could be any of the following subjects: American Literature, World Literature, British Literature. Some could potentially be AP courses.

Duties and Responsibilities:

● Plan for and teach a full course load; 5 classes and 1 enrichment class per day

● Encourage, monitor, and promote student engagement through a positive learning environment

● Collaborate and communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators

● Identify and/or develop resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds and learning styles

● Incorporate various forms of technology within lessons

● Monitor and evaluate student outcomes

● Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

● Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field from an accredited institution

● Previous teaching experience in a professional setting preferred

● Positive, creative, solution-oriented person

● An understanding and commitment to Saint John’s mission to educate in a joyful Catholic community of faith, hope and love, while preparing our students to be leaders with good hearts and discerning spirits as they pursue truth, academic excellence, and service to humanity.

The ideal candidate has a degree in English, Humanities, or Education, excellent teaching skills, previous experience with secondary school teaching, a demonstrated passion for and expertise in English, and strong computer skills, including Outlook, Google Classroom, G- suite, with a comfort level working in a 1:1 laptop environment. While independent school experience is preferred, it is not required.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $44,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
