Are you passionate about cutting-edge research in genomics? Join South Dakota State University (SDSU) Biology and Microbiology department at the Functional Genomics Core Facility and play a pivotal role as a Laboratory Technician! This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
The SDSU Department of Biology and Microbiology produces graduates and highly skilled professionals who will continue onto exciting and desirable careers in Medical Science, Biology Education, Biological Research, Biotechnology, and Microbiology - in industry or academia. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Laboratory Technician will assist with the day-to-day functions and customer service in the Functional Genomics Core Facility and report to the Core Coordinator. Duties include but are not limited to training users in proper use of core equipment, generating user accounts, maintaining a clean and organized working environment, and answering user questions on standard operating procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in science field completed by date of application;
  • Hands-on experience with DNA, RNA and/or protein quantification and demonstrated ability to learn lab protocols; and
  • Demonstrated strengths in organizational skills and interpersonal relationships.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with microscopy equipment and software.
  • Experience with other relevant research equipment.
