Coherent Corp. US is Hiring a Principal Engineer (Quality) Near Brook, NJ

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing quality control plans and procedures independently and contributes to departmental and divisional strategy.
  • Developing and maintaining incoming inspection system
  • Controlling nonconforming material
  • Reviewing drawings and specs for compliance to requirements
  • Supporting the application of quality tools and methods, such as DMAIC methodology, SPC, and FMEA, by providing training and coaching. Exerts significant latitudes in determining objectives of assignment and achieve goals.
  • Leading cross-functional continual improvement teams to work on systems, procedures, quality, cost, cycle-time, and yields to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Promote and facilitate structured problem solving
  • Performing and responding to quality audits
  • Assisting production and engineering personnel to ensure delivery of quality products.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 10 yr. experience in Quality Engineering or similar job functions.
  • BS in mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, material science, engineering, or equivalent.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate projects and achieve results
  • Hands-on experience with FMEA and SPC; experience in Six Sigma, Lean, and TQM techniques. 
  • Extensive experience with semiconductor and / or manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in training and coaching teams in applying quality methods and techniques.

Skills

  • Problem solving. Able to guide teams across the organization to find and remove root cause for complex quality problems.
  • Understanding of, and ability to develop quality systems (process and procedures for auditing, corrective and preventive actions, etc...) without considerable direction.
  • Sound judgment in selecting appropriate methods and techniques to address complex problems and finding solutions.
  • Experience in data collection and analysis such as process capability studies and analysis of DOE data. Able to serves as a technical resource on quality related issues across the business unit.
  • Auditing knowledge including ISO 9001 & ISO 14001. CQA preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Travel 5-10% of the time within the United States.
  • Due to ITAR compliance, this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)
