Are you looking for a summer internship within purchasing? Here at Maksteel powered by UPG, we are providing a paid internship opportunity designed to provide students with valuable hands-on experience and challenging objectives. This position reports to the Director of Purchasing and is responsible to the Category Managers in their daily workflow.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Investigate sources to satisfy requirements for materials and/or services which will assure dependable and economical supply.
• Place orders with appropriate sources, giving complete instructions as to specifications and delivery requirements.
• Establish effective channels of communication between company and suppliers that ensure the least total cost and delivery dates consistent with our customer requirements.
• Correct price and quantity discrepancies between POs and Invoices.
• Maintains records pertaining to the materials, services, costs, lead-times, and suppliers.
• Perform daily clerical duties as required, including but not limited to, RMA’s, Purchase Orders, Receiving and more.
• Data visualization and weekly/daily reports.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• Enrolled in an accredited College/University as a Junior or Senior
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field 
• Strong excel and database skills
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Strong data, analytics, database and spreadsheet skills – the ability to work through considerable amounts of data with a focus on standardization, quality and completeness
