First Baptist Church Broken Arrow is Hiring a Facilities Director Near Broken Arrow, OK

Department: Operations

Reports to: Director of Operations

Supervises: Facilities/Maintenance Staff

Job/FLSA Status: Full-time; Exempt

Position Summary: The Facilities Director serves as the leader of a team that provides repairs, maintenance, improvements, and resource application and allocation for all aspects of the church facilities and grounds. The Director further serves to manage set-up and tear-down needs for church programs and events and oversees housekeeping support. The focus of this position is one of proactive problem avoidance and a collaborative approach to effective and efficient facility management.

Education/Experience:

  • 5 years prior experience in maintenance/building services
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Prior role in church/ministry-related facilities management preferred

Qualifications/Skills:

  • A committed follower of Christ who demonstrates a healthy spiritual life marked by characteristics of a mature believer.
  • Can identify closely with the mission, values, vision, theology, philosophy, and methodology of First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow.
  • Proven leadership and management skills sufficient to consistently understand and assess the facilities needs of the church and effectively delegate tasks to a team of maintenance support staff and/or contractors.
  • Able to prioritize tasks by effectively discerning urgency of need and response in a “must-do,” “should-do,” and “nice-to-do” framework, following each need or task through to completion.
  • Ability to practice problem avoidance through a proactive application of system maintenance, life-cycle planning, and resource allocation.
  • Proven ability to foster and maintain a positive and productive working relationship with suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Possess sufficient communication skills to provide clear and compelling training and direction to team members and positive and productive collaboration with ministry leaders and church support staff.
  • Sufficient project management skills to take complex projects and break them down into manageable parts, hitting necessary milestones and deadlines.
  • Possess sufficient computer and technical skills to effectively use and apply the church’s shared applications (including MS Office365 and MS Teams) and the various systems that support facilities and grounds.
  • Proven ability to lead and direct a team of maintenance specialists by providing not only managerial supervision and necessary training but also foster a productive and healthy spirit of teamwork and high morale.
  • Proven ability to steward resources for the most effective and efficient results, including applying the “minimum commitment rule” of expending the fewest resources necessary in any situation to achieve the objective.
  • Skilled in mechanics, light electrical work, construction, and other maintenance functions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Facility

  • Oversee HVAC units, program HVAC systems for daily meetings and ministry events
  • Oversee security systems, manage all alarm calls, program entry access devices and keys
  • Oversee fire systems, manage all fire alarm calls and annual inspections including fire extinguisher and sprinklers
  • Oversee Janitorial services, including contract cleaning services
  • Oversee improvements to facility in a cost-effective manner
  • Oversee programming of exterior lighting
  • Oversee storage barns
  • Oversee inspections for elevators
  • Oversee trash services
  • Oversee mission house (off-site)
  • Other duties as assigned related to facilities and grounds

Maintenance

  • Oversee maintenance of facilities, grounds, vehicles, trailers, elevators, irrigation systems, exterior lighting, tractor and lawn equipment and all miscellaneous equipment
  • Oversee roof maintenance
  • Oversee lawn maintenance, including contract mowing and fertilizer services
  • Oversee light construction and repair projects
  • Oversee interior and exterior painting
  • Oversee plumbing maintenance
  • Oversee landscaping, including seasonal flowers and mulch
  • Oversee parking lot and road maintenance
  • Oversee parking lot lighting
  • Oversee pond and pond fountain
  • Oversee janitorial services, including contract cleaning services
  • Oversee carpet and tile cleaning and polishing
  • Oversee mission house and lawn

Supervisor

  • Create and/or maintain an effective maintenance and project request system that effectively allows others on the church staff to solicit support from the facilities team, including set-up requests, maintenance needs, and special projects.
  • Assist and supervise maintenance staff in set-up/tear-down of classrooms, ministry spaces and grounds during church events
  • Assist and supervise maintenance staff in maintenance and updates to the facility and grounds
  • Assist and supervise maintenance staff in maintenance and updates to the mission house
  • Other duties as assigned
