POSITION SUMMARY. The Veterinarian is responsible for the health and well-being of VPGC’s turkey flocks to produce wholesome products efficiently and safely by conducting all necessary veterinary procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform all necessary veterinary care and procedures for commercial turkeys grown in the assigned live operation region to insure their care, health and well-being.
• Provide and document surveillance, clinical diagnostics and treatment regimens for flocks.
• Act as a primary liaison with industry colleagues, customers, and regulatory agencies as needed.
• Provide guidance to VPGC Live Operations and management to ensure efficient production of healthy birds for processing.
• Promote and support the VPGC Animal Care and Well-Being and Biosecurity programs by providing training and conducting audits for program effectiveness and results.

Assist in research projects and other duties as assigned.

• Conducts all activity in compliance with appropriate veterinary practices
• Eligible for veterinary licensure for the states of Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania

Education and Experience:

· DVM degree required. Additional poultry training or experience preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
