ABOUT THE ROLE The Safety Specialist II works closely with field staff, clients and subcontractors, all levels of management, and personnel from external organizations during all phases of electric construction projects.

Safety Specialist II's will support the creation of site-specific plans and be a mentor to other safety professionals within the company.

The Specialist must be committed to ensuring adherence to safety-related policies, procedures, and regulations while developing positive professional relationships.

This is a location-based position encompassing worksites throughout the assigned project area and requires varying amounts of travel.

  • actively participate in safety meetings to review job hazard analysis and hazard recognition tools Participate in project kick off and progress meetings Coordinate safety department meetings and action planning to provide technical expertise regarding safety and training topics Support client-specific safety requirements programs and ensure alignment and compliance between client expectations, company rules, and applicable safety regulations Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to environmental protection or occupational health and safety Coach and mentor project site personnel regarding safety practices and behaviors on an ongoing basis Conduct proactive behavior-based and quality-focused field safety observations and PPE hazard assessments Coordinate with Safety, Safety Training & Operations teams to schedule or facilitate required employee trainings New hire orientation OSHA ETD Quarterly refresher training Customer required training Post-incident training as part of a Corrective Action Plan Participate in site-specific safety planning Provide mentoring and coaching to lower level Safety personnel Participate in safety department meetings and action planning to provide technical expertise regarding safety and training topics Regular and predictable attendance Other duties as assigned Essential functions of this position are to be performance at a Company-designated office or field location Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards ABOUT YOU Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) field roles - required High school diploma or GED equivalent - required Minimum of one safety certification is preferred, examples include : Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Safety Management Specialist (SMS), Specialist in Safety and Health (SSH), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Undergraduate degree in in Occupational Safety & Health Management, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene or related technical field preferred;

combination of relevant experience and education considered in lieu of degree Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Documented experience with OSHA recordkeeping, reporting and Method of Procedure (MOP) writing Thorough understanding of construction project management practices and procedures Advanced knowledge of local, federal and state regulations pertaining to environmental protection or occupational health and safety Excellent problem-solving and situation analysis skills Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite programs, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to influence behavior Strong knowledge and understanding of OSHA and other industry-related safety regulations Must be a team player with proven ability to work with co-workers, different departments and outside contacts and maintain strong relationships Attentiveness to details Organizational skills Ability to work independently Ability to travel for job site visits for extended periods of time WHAT WE OFFER Compensation & Benefits Salary - $87, - $, / year Commensurate with experience, paid weekly.

Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
