Job Overview:

As a Web Developer, you will report directly to the Director of Information Technology. This role is essential in driving the continuous development of our corporate, public facing, and platform-specific websites. You will utilize your expertise in Web Technologies and WordPress to enhance website content, design, architecture, and functionality. Your responsibilities include collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to accurately gather and implement business requirements, ensuring our web platforms effectively support our strategic objectives.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Technical Performance and Innovation:

· Develop and maintain web technology, assess new technologies, and integrate useful innovations to enhance website functionality

· Build, test, launch, and maintain web applications and forms, ensuring high availability (goal: 99.99%) in cooperation with ISP and network staff

Content Management:

· Create, update, and streamline web pages; provide mechanisms for content owners to update their content

· Manage content (SharePoint on Microsoft 365) for our internal intranet as needed.

Quality Control and Compliance:

· Perform quality control for third-party content and ensure all web content complies with legal requirements and company policies

· Document web development processes and best practices

Testing and Maintenance:

· Conduct browser compatibility assessments and navigation analysis

· Work collaboratively with departmental staff to design and maintain web pages using HTML, JavaScript, and other front-end technology

· Assist internal staff with Microsoft 365

Analytics and Reporting:

· Collaborate with Marketing to gather web metrics and analyze trends to inform strategic decisions

User Support and Documentation:

· Provide exceptional customer service to users at all levels, ensuring timely and accurate web page information and problem resolution

· Write and maintain front end code with comprehensive comment tags for clarity

Technical Requirements:

· Working knowledge of web front end development

o HTML

o JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks

o WordPress

· Microsoft 365 / SharePoint working knowledge

· VS Code, NetBeans, Eclipse, or comparable IDE or editor

· Testing harnesses such as Selenium or Playwright

· Use of Agile tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub

· Familiarity with source control and Git

· Working knowledge of CDN or online file storage

· Design experience with digital estate e.g. page management weight, image size etc.

· Responsive design knowledge for multiple form factors and browsers including web (Chrome, IE, WebKit, Firefox), iOS, Android

· Mobile experience useful, but not required, e.g. native vs cross-platform/agnostic

Position Requirements:

· University degree in Business, Computer Programming, or a related field.

· At least 3 years of experience in a web development role, with a proven track record in managing complex website projects.

· Exceptional understanding of marketing, sales, and development processes.

· Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee projects from conception to completion.

· Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities.

· Solid business acumen with robust marketing and management communication skills.

· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, adept in documentation and clear communication.

· Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with senior level executives.
