Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County is Hiring a Career Navigator Near Bridgeville, DE

Location: Bridgeville, Delaware
Schedule: 8am to 4:30pm
Pay Rate: $21 an hour
POSITION PURPOSE
The Career Navigator is a key member of Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County’s Workforce Development team and provides support to Kent and Sussex counties. This position operates under Goodwill’s Opportunity Accelerator service framework to support the team’s mission to implement the most effective strategies to help people find sustainable careers and improve their quality of life. The incumbent plays a pivotal role in guiding individuals from diverse backgrounds, including job seekers, career advancers, vulnerable populations, and individuals with disabilities, towards achieving their career goals. Through comprehensive assessments, individualized career plans, and tailored support services, the Career Navigator empowers individuals to navigate the complexities of the job market and secure meaningful employment opportunities. The Career Navigator actively participates in initiatives that showcase the positive impact of Goodwill’s Workforce Development programs and services, including Goodwill Connect and the Job Resource Centers (JRC). This position serves as a member of the Management Support Team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
  • Conducts outreach to connect individuals and communities with Goodwill programing and support services.
  • Supports community engagement with the Goodwill mobile application and Goodwill Connect systems.
  • Supports program initiatives, including the Opportunity Accelerator service model, community partnerships and outreach, and events at Goodwill Job Resource Centers.
  • Promotes workforce development services to external stakeholders by attending events, hosting orientations, and delivering information to small or large groups.
  • Conducts career interest, aptitude, and exploration assessments and provides career exploration and counseling services.
  • Develops career pathway plans which connects individuals to wrap-around services, including education, healthcare, and financial assistance programs; skills training; and employment opportunities.
  • Enters data into the CaseWorthy case management system with accuracy and integrity.
  • Maintains detailed case files and documentation to track individual progress and outcomes.
  • Aids with job applications, resume development, interviewing skills, and provides related job search support.
  • Cultivates relationships with employers to identify viable job opportunities and educates employers and partners about Goodwill’s mission and workforce development initiatives.
  • Stays up to date on current labor market trends, employment opportunities, and career development resources.
  • Contributes to employment retention by providing ongoing career counseling and follow-up services.
  • Assists with program evaluation, reporting, and accountability.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all sensitive information including but not limited to client information.
  • Achieves quality program outcomes based on established standards.
  • Assists the organization in maintaining compliance with appropriate standards and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Works to advance the organization’s mission and achieve departmental goals for persons served, placed, and trained, in addition to any other objectives set forth as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
At least two years of experience in human services, workforce development, human resources, training/instruction, or related field. Bachelor’s degree and certifications are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs or comparable programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse constituent population.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct career assessments and develop personalized career plans.
  • Strong understanding of labor market trends, employment opportunities, and career development resources.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential data.
  • Ability to work evenings or weekends and to travel, as needed.
