About the Role

Tile House Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant (HCA) to join the practice, working alongside our fantastic nursing team.

The role is offered on a full time basis, but part time hours will be considered for the right applicant, as well as flexibility of shift times.

It is essential that you have previous experience within general practice to be considered for this role, due to current staffing within the surgery.

Supported by the nursing team, the HCA will deliver care within the boundaries of your role and in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.

They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients and support the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing HCA guidance as required.

The healthcare assistant will be able to apply their clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice within designated clinical areas such as :

• wound care and administering of medicines and vaccines;
• NHS health checks;
• re-stocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines;
• clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms;
• preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations;
• providing valuable health promotion and education for service users, their families and carers.

The following are also required :

• Strong clinical skills;
• Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC.
• Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent;
• Confidence and competence in all HCA duties required for the post;
• Experience within primary care or another healthcare setting;
• Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues;
• Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
• Strong organisational and time management skills.

Desirable :

A qualification in phlebotomy / venepuncture.
