Park Attendant

• Location: The Cape Cod Canal Field Office is located at 40 Academy Drive in Buzzards Bay, MA 02532
• Schedule: (4) days on and four (4) days off

Job Overview:

Park Attendants at Buzzards Bay Recreation Area perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks. Responsibilities include maintaining picnic shelters, park benches, and managing refuse and recycling receptacles. The team, aged 21 or older, ensures the cleanliness of landscaped areas and a large visitor parking lot. They utilize a government-provided utility vehicle for official duties within the project site.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Attend daily pre-work conferences conducted by the Technical Point of Contact at 9 A.M.
• Receive detailed descriptions of duties, safety requirements, USACE policies, and CPR certification during orientation.
• Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance with provided name tags.
• Wear contractor-provided red shirts and sweatshirts while on duty.
• Use optional hats without political or religious statements.
• Wear appropriate footwear and maintain a professional demeanor.
• Possess the physical ability to lift 30lbs, perform cleaning duties, and endure adverse weather conditions.
• Perform duties such as trash pickup, restroom cleaning, and other physically demanding tasks.
• Report accidents, violations, or unsafe situations promptly to the on-duty Park Ranger.
• Communicate with law enforcement in emergencies; avoid enforcing regulations directly.
• Follow safety protocols to ensure personal and visitor safety.
• Live on-site in designated areas using a fully operable "self-contained" RV.
• Adhere to campsite rules, maintaining cleanliness and following guidelines for pets and guests.
• Clean and disinfect comfort stations daily, including toilets, sinks, doors, and interior surfaces.
• Replenish supplies, ensure proper operation of facilities, and follow a specified cleaning schedule.
• Inspect and maintain recreation area parking lots, grounds, and service roads daily.
• Address deficiencies, perform light landscaping, and conduct lost and found procedures.
• Maintain daily logs, file incident reports, and fulfill other record-keeping duties as directed.
• Provide optional cleaning services as directed by the Technical Point of Contact for high-demand periods.
• Be prepared for additional cleaning tasks at Buzzards Bay Recreation Area as needed.
