GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES • The Custodian has the primary responsibility of performing custodial services to the City’s Parks & Recreation department and any other City properties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Cleans assigned buildings and facilities including dusting surfaces and fixtures; sweeping, mopping, and/or vacuuming floors; and washing windows and other fixtures. • Cleans and disinfects bathrooms and maintains proper supplies for facilities. • Utilizes appropriate equipment and tools including brooms, mops, vacuums and etc. • Reads labels and mixes chemicals accordingly. • Picks up trash and litter throughout assigned areas. • Clean entrance glass both inside and outside. • Must wear proper protective equipment and clothing. • Perform any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
EDUCATION. EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING • High school graduate or equivalent or GED. • Experience with custodial duties and responsibilities preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Knowledge of disinfecting agents and polishing agents including their proper use and application. • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions including chemical labels with limited immediate supervision. • Ability to protect the confidentiality of sensitive information. • Ability to work flexible hours. • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Bending, squatting, climbing, walking, standing, kneeling and reaching both to ground level and overhead. • Occasionally crawl and twist to clean in low and small areas. • Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist. • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. • Must be able to hold and grip objects as well as sort supplies.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION • CPR and First Aid certification preferred; may be required for certain duties • AED certification preferred; may be required for certain duties • Valid Missouri Driver’s License preferred and must remain insurable under the City’s liability insurance policy; may be required for certain duties
