Roberson Museum and Science Center is Hiring a Marketing and Communications Coordinator Near Binghamton, NY

Reports to: Development Director

Supervises: None
Status: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt
Nominal Work Week: 40 hours per week
Salary Range: $19-$20.50 / hr.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing and Communication Coordinator will develop, implement, and manage strategic communication plans to enhance awareness, drive attendance, and promote the Roberson Museum’s events, programs, exhibitions, and mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages writing and communication support for Museum operations, including public relations, media relations, publications, marketing, advertising, and event promotion
  • Establishes annual strategy, with the support of all department heads, to effectively promote Roberson’s events, public programs, exhibitions, Museum Shop, and mission-related initiatives
  • Generates press releases and responds to all media inquiries
  • Creates and executes print and digital advertising strategies, including managing media buying contracts
  • Oversees the development, design, printing, and distribution of all Museum print and digital publications, such as newsletters, emails, brochures, rack cards, flyers, posters, handouts, and event invitations
  • Develops and edits content for Roberson’s website
  • Conceptualizes and writes copy to support the activities of various museum departments; edits and proofreads copy by other museum staff
  • Manages the Museum’s social media accounts, engaging with the public while promoting upcoming events and programs and managing customer service queries
  • Collaborates with other departments to serve as quality control and editor to ensure communications are cohesive, meet Museum standards, and convey a consistent brand
  • Develops and assists with outreach strategies and represents the Museum at off-site events to increase community engagement and partnership opportunities
  • Assists in tracking and reporting on metrics and analytics for all communications efforts
  • Assists with fundraising events and budget creation for marketing and events
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Two to three years of experience in marketing, public relations, and/or development, preferably in a cultural institution or non-profit setting
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, able to manage multiple projects and meet assigned deadlines and targets
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with WordPress and online content management systems
  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) or other graphic design software
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS

Typically works in office conditions and is required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $19.00 - $20.50 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
