Position DescriptionThe Belly Dump Truck Driver plays a vital role in transporting and delivering materials to construction sites, quarries, or other designated locations. Operating with a strong focus on safety and efficiency, the driver ensures compliance with traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies, conducts vehicle inspections, and communicates effectively with team members.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Belly Dump Truck in compliance with all applicable traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and unload materials onto the truck using the belly dump mechanism.
- Transport materials to designated locations in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and its equipment, including tires, brakes, lights, and hydraulic systems.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, mileage, and deliveries.
- Coordinate deliveries and address any issues or concerns in communication with dispatchers and supervisors.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding vehicle operation, safety, and reporting.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the interior and exterior of the truck.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with all applicable traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and environments.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work sites may be required.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends when necessary.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public at all times.
- Must possess a Commercial Drivers’ License and necessary endorsements.
- Must possess, or be able to obtain, current DOT Medical Qualification.
Physical/Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Stamina to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces as needed.
- Agility to maneuver on uneven terrain and navigate construction sites safely.
