Senior Payroll Accountant - contract to potential hire!

**Must be able to be onsite in Bethesda, MD 3 days/week**

The ideal candidate will be an independent, hands-on, and self-directed individual responsible for multiple aspects of the corporate payroll function. This person will be able to hit the ground running and be a huge asset to the team.

Job Description:

The Senior Payroll Accountant will assist the company's new ERP implementation as well as the timecard system and allowance process. They will assist with payroll processing using ADP WFN, reconciliations, and analysis. As part of the ERP implementation, they will support the Principal Payroll Manager with the requirements gathering and process documentation efforts, data cleansing, data migration and data validation tasks, system and functionality testing and documentation of results, new functionality training and change management.

Additional Details:

ERP Implementation

  • Assist in ERP requirement gathering sessions and preparation of necessary business process requirements and documentation.
  • Assist with data cleansing, data migration and data validation tasks.
  • Assist with Test Scripts preparation and documentation.
  • Assist with ERP functionality testing and documentation of test results.
  • Assist with training and change management initiatives related to the new ERP go-live.
  • Review payroll procedures and identify business process issues and gaps. Implement changes to improve processes.

Payroll Processing

  • Assist with processing the semi-monthly payrolls for international (Expats, TCN's) and U.S.-based employees using Oracle and ADP.
  • Prepare taxable allowances for employees working on foreign assignments and correctly report on their W2’s per IRS guidelines.
  • Work with other departments (IT, MIS, and HR) to log, track, and resolve legacy system (Oracle) issues.
  • Process employees’ timecard corrections to make changes to invoices sent to USAID and Inter-company clients.
  • Custom build and generate ADP payroll reports using ADP Workforce Now.
  • Assist with external audits including preparation of necessary work papers.
  • Research relevant tax laws and regulations as necessary and propose necessary modifications to stay compliant.
  • Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in payroll processing
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, relevant experience
  • Experience with multi-state and/or international payroll environments.
  • Prior experience with: ADP Workforce Now; ADP Custom Reporting; Oracle; tax equalization policies.
  • Experience with ERP implementations.
  • Self-directed with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks/competing deadlines simultaneously.
  • Must be comfortable with and embrace working at a very detailed level (for example, calculating pay and entering employee pay data).
  • High level of computer literacy with advance Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Able to handle confidential and/or sensitive information with discretion.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external clients, and tailor communication style to diverse audiences.
  • Able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization and external clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Able and willing to adjust work schedule, if needed, to support teams located in different time zones/countries.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in diverse teams, create inclusive work environments, and work effectively within a culturally diverse environment.
  • Authorized to work in USA.

Salary range $55-$60/hr W2. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, location and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
