Belmont Abbey College is Hiring a CAMPUS MINISTER Near Belmont, NC

Position Summary
Belmont Abbey College, invites applications for the position of Campus Minister. The Office of Campus Ministry has entrusted to it as its primary responsibility the spiritual growth of the college community. The successful candidate for this position will help to drive Belmont Abbey College’s efforts in evangelization and spiritual formation of its students.
Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Campus Ministry, the Campus Minister will build a network of Christ-focused relationships with Belmont Abbey students and will assist with planning, programming, and administrative tasks particular to the office of Campus Ministry. This includes but is not limited to the following: collaborating with the monastery and FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students), organizing and administering retreats, assisting with the formation of students participating in RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), and accompanying individual students as they walk with Jesus. Additionally, the campus minister will work alongside the director to provide teaching, spiritual formation, and leadership formation to the Hintemeyer Catholic Leadership students, especially by helping a percentage of the Hintemeyer Household Leader students to prepare for leading weekly small-group Bible studies. In all of these tasks and responsibilities, the campus minister will strive to practice a relational ministry of presence, availability, and mercy.
QualificationsThe incumbent must be a confirmed Catholic in good standing with a letter of reference from a pastor; have strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, ideally with an emphasis on mentorship and formation of college-age students; demonstrate a high degree of independence and initiative; have strong communication skills, be highly organized, and have the ability to work harmoniously with a diverse population and personalities. The incumbent must be very flexible with the ability to respond to crisis in a calm, responsible, and effective manner.
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience in Catholic ministry (can include volunteer ministry experience or collegiate peer ministry) and/or leadership training. The work environment is an office, residence hall, and campus setting, which require the ability to work 40 hours per week in the main office and other areas of campus. Some night and weekend hours will be required for certain activities, programming, and retreats. Other duties will be assigned as needed.
In addition, candidates must wholeheartedly embrace the mission of the College to educate students in the liberal arts and sciences so that in all things God may be glorified. The incumbent will consistently demonstrate skills, attitudes, and stable disposition of character to support our Catholic and Benedictine identity while fostering the development of mind, body, and spirit in our students, our staff and the greater community. Finally, candidates must have a sincere appreciation and acceptance of our Catholic approach to education and an understanding of Pope Saint John Paul II’s Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
