the first time.

Qualifications
As described in WAC 110-145-1425: Master’s degree in social work or a closely related field and 1 year of
experience working with children or Bachelor’s degree in social work or a closely related field and 2
years of experience working with children or 5 years of professional experience working with children.

Key Responsibilities
Day to Day Operation
● Ensure day-to-day operations of the facility run smoothly and effectively
● Make, from first principles, wise choices about facility availability
● Ensure volunteers and staff are adequately oriented and trained to policies and procedures
● Create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for children, volunteers, and staff
● Lead a team of volunteers, interns, and staff providing direct care of children
Intern Management
● Recruit and hire an appropriate number of interns each academic term and match them with
opportunities across the range of Skookum’s programing
● Train and oversee all interns placed at the Landing
DCYF Liaison
● Answer (or cause to be answered) intake calls and make wise decisions about which children are
a good fit for the Skookum House program
● Communicate with the placement desk about information critical to placement decisions that is
learned while the children were in the care of The Landing
● Coordinate with DCYF to plan and execute discharge in a way that is helpful for the department,
easy on volunteers, and minimizes the disruption experienced by the children
Licensing
● Ensure that buildings meet all fire department, health department, and Licensing Division (LD)
requirements for the safety of children
● Respond to LD investigations
● Lead Skookum staff through the licensing and relicensing process of The Landing
