Bellevue Learning Center is Hiring an Academic Tutor Near Bellevue, WA

Job Description

This job opening is for tutors for various subjects. We currently are looking for English, history, math, and science tutors for students from K-12. During the school year, we are open Monday through Friday after school from 2:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

We also have a summer program which runs Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 2:00pm. Individual tutoring in the summer will run from 2:30pm - 5:30pm.

Scheduling is flexible. Tutors can choose how many hours you prefer to work and which days and times are best for you. You may also choose which subjects you will teach. We hire outstanding, knowledgeable, passionate math tutors who desire to make a difference in the lives of their students and who are eager to pass on their love of learning.

Job Details:

  • Teach in a one-on-one setting by developing your own curriculum to meet each student's needs.
  • English levels range for elementary English through AP Lang/Lit and SAT/ACT English. We also have a need for ELL teachers.
  • History levels range from middle school social studies through AP World History, AP US History, and AP Government.
  • Math levels range from elementary math through AP Calculus and SAT/ACT math
  • Sciences include high school biology, chemistry, physics and AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, and AP Computer Science.
  • During the summer, teach small groups of 6-8 students in SAT prep and middle school enrichment English/math courses.
  • Work will begin as soon as the candidate is able.
  • Hours range from 5-30 hours per week, depending on what fits your schedule.
  • Each lesson will typically be 90-minute lesson per student.
  • Starting Pay is $20 per hour. Merit-based raises are available after a trial period, which includes lesson observations and feedback.

Education and Experience

  • Classroom teaching experience is preferred
  • You will be tested within your subject area during the interview. We will only hire candidates who can demonstrate considerable ability in their subject areas.
