Position Summary

The Athletic Trainer is responsible for working with local School Systems’ athletes for event coverage, training room hours, clinic hours and participation in coaches/advisors sports medicine program. The Athletic Trainer performs patient related activities and patient care as directed by the Physical Therapist in the hospital setting.

Essential Functions

  • Determines an athlete’s readiness to participate in sports after an injury

  • Coordinates, communicates, and documents the athletes injury information to appropriate personnel i.e. physician, coach, family etc.

  • Facilitates and performs athlete’s rehabilitation and reconditioning

  • Develops injury and illness prevention strategies

  • Promotes safe and appropriate practice and competition

  • Demonstrates appropriate initial first aid procedures

  • Applies protective and/or injury prevention devices such as taping, bandaging, bracing etc when needed

  • Carries out treatment plans as directed by the physical therapist

  • Presents clear, concise, organized information exchanges and interactions
    Position Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited school

  • Certification through the Board of Certification, Inc.

  • Valid license from the State of Ohio

  • First Aid certification

  • Minimum 5-7 years experience preferred

  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
