TCN BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES is Hiring a Residential Monitor (Full Time) Near Bellefontaine, OH

Position Summary

This position is responsible for monitoring clients of the residential facility to ensure client safety and the integrity of the program; assisting with the tasks of daily living; facilitating recreational activities; and completing facility documentation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains a residential environment which promotes positive resident growth and achievement of treatment goals, in a manner that meets quality requirements set by the Agency and that is within the limits of services permitted by position and scope of practice:
    • Assists in designing and participating in resident activities.
    • Assists in identifying resident treatment needs and providing appropriate interventions and interactions as directed by supervisor.
    • Facilitates therapeutic activities.
    • Reinforces residents’ orientation to house rules, safety procedures, and household environment.
    • Utilizes the residential plans of care for each resident.
    • Monitors the provision of self-assisted medication.
    • Monitors each client’s general health status.
    • Ensures that the facilities are always pleasant, and that they meet the cleanliness standards of OhioMHAS and TCN standards.
    • Respects and protects the clients’ rights.
    • Completes all safety procedures and drills in strict accordance with Agency schedules and standards.
    • Transports clients as needed, using company vehicles and/or personal vehicles, pending approval from TCN’s drive-check agency.
    • Accompanies clients to various locations, ensuring continuous monitoring throughout their activities. This includes accompanying clients into stores, appointments, waiting rooms, support meetings, and other relevant locations.
    • Thoroughly reads, comprehends, and consistently enforces all client rules without exception. Escalates any violations to supervisor.
  • Reports daily activities and other pertinent information.
    • Documents client progress and activities in residential charts and in daily shift reports.
    • Assists in the preparation of facility summary reports.
    • Engages in ongoing communication with community support personnel, supervisors, and other pertinent clinicians to relay information and updates.
    • Maintains 100% accuracy in documentation and summary reports.
  • Manages crisis situations, as needed, calmly and effectively.
  • Mediates conflicts among clients as needed, promoting a respectful and peaceful living environment.
  • Maintains open communication with clients, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates a level of alertness, approachability, availability, and readiness.
  • Maintains agency-required annual training including, but not limited to, client rights and grievances, safety training, AEGIS (de-escalation) training, infection control, and others as required by OhioMHAS.
  • All other residential/recovery housing duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

      • Education: High school diploma or Equivalent.
      • Experience: Some experience working with substance abuse and mental health populations is preferred; demonstrated competencies required.
      • Certification: CDCA preferred. CPR and First Aid, De-escalation, Medication Monitoring required.
      • Other: Valid OH driver’s license with clean driving record.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:Safety rules and procedures, Agency policies and procedures, local area and resources, daily living tasks and skills, documentation requirements, crisis management, empathy and compassion, and ethical conduct.

Skills: General computer skills; conflict resolution skills; operating basic household appliances and tools; excellent interpersonal skills, including directing and demonstrating activities of daily living, i.e., cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.

Abilities: Lifting up to 25 pounds; standing; bending; stooping; writing legibly or use of computer; ability to see, hear, read, and communicate information clearly; ability to recognize unusual or threatening conditions; ability to remain patient and understanding when working with individuals in different stages of recovery.


Working Conditions

May require weekend, evening, and/or holiday hours. Travel within the local communities and may sometimes travel to other counties outside of TCN’s counties depending on client needs. Strict confidentiality is required. Working conditions may require the use of conflict resolution skills and de-escalation techniques. Some exposure to cleaning compounds and supplies.
