Responsibilities for Assistant Preschool Teacher

• Work hand-in-hand with the Preschool Teacher to carry out lesson plans that nurture and stimulate all domains of each child’s development
• Assist in providing a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth and provides space to learn how to play, work together, and make friends
• Help children who need extra support to complete tasks
• Maintain records and update our online portal so parents can see activities their child experienced each day, as well as information about the center and specific child needs
• Assist children with daily life tasks (e.g., diapering/restroom use, feeding, dressing)
• Ensure students are properly supervised and adhere to the school’s stated rules and policies
• Maintain an orderly classroom and handle all disturbances in accordance with the daycare guidelines
• Attend and engage in occasional parent participation events and other events that may be on night and/or weekends

Qualifications for Assistant Preschool Teacher

• High school diploma or equivalent; An Associates in Early Childhood Education or related field or a CDA; or enrolled in a program and working towards an Associates or CDA that must be completed within 2 years
• Able to effectively plan, organize and implement educational activities
• Creative and imaginative activity planning
• Able to demonstrate skills in conflict management
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to maintain an overall positive and professional disposition
• Reliable transportation and attendance
• Prepared to pass a state mandated background check
• Able to lift and carry up to 25 pound and in case of emergency a 40-pound child
