Position : Teacher for the Visually Impaired
Job Overview :
As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you will play a crucial role in empowering students with visual impairments to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
You will work closely with students, their families, and other educational professionals to design and implement individualized education plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
Responsibilities :
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the educational needs and learning styles of visually impaired students.
2. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on assessment results, ensuring that learning goals are achievable and measurable.
3. Adapt and modify curriculum materials to make them accessible to students with visual impairments, utilizing assistive technologies and other specialized tools.
4. Teach various subjects, including but not limited to language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, using diverse teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles.
5. Provide instruction in skills specific to visually impaired students, such as braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and adaptive technology usage.
7. Utilize a variety of instructional materials and resources, including audio and tactile materials, to enhance student engagement and comprehension.
Qualifications :
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education with a focus on Visual Impairments or a related field.
2. Valid teaching certification or licensure for visually impaired students.
3. Demonstrated experience in working with individuals with visual impairments and an understanding of their unique needs and challenges.
4. Proficiency in braille literacy and the ability to teach braille to students at various levels of proficiency.

This position is based near Beaumont, TX.
