Kitchen & Coffee is Hiring a Line Chef Near Beacon, NY

ABOUT US:

Kitchen & Coffee is a 100% gluten-free, plant based cafe. We are located in the heart of the ever-growing city of Beacon, NY. Since opening in 2020, we’ve excelled at providing high quality, beautifully crafted plates that are both seasonal and locally sourced. We work closely with our farm located in LaGrange “Titusville Farm” as well as other farms in the New York region to source produce and eggs that highlight the bounty of the Hudson Valley.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

As the Line Chef at Kitchen & Coffee, you’ll be executing the seasonal menu to perfection with emphasis on portion control and plating techniques. You will be responsible for accurately completing tickets in a timely manner, creating and packaging grab-n-go items, and prepping menu items as needed. It is a must that the Line Chef can efficiently manage inventory and have a keen eye for seeing when things are running below par. The Line Chef will work under the Executive Chef.

SEATING: 25 indoors, 25 outdoors (soon increasing to more).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all food products are used as effectively as possible, including assisting with proper rotation of all food to minimize wasting
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets
  • Learn, retain, and demonstrate a full knowledge and understanding of all menu items
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist. Ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish
  • Coordinate with Front of House to complete and execute tickets in a timely manner
  • Attend to any problems and report to the Executive Chef
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment including equipment handling, cleaning, and food safety
  • Conduct regular inspections of the kitchen for cleanliness, proper temperatures, recipe handling, safety, and orderliness
  • Work with the Executive Chef to implement short and long-term goals and objectives for the department
  • Work with the Executive Chef to implement menus and prep lists

KEY SKILLS NEEDED

  • Understand and adhere to health and safety regulations
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Basic math skills
  • Time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years experience cooking for a cafe or restaurant (required)
  • 2 years experience using professional kitchen equipment (required)
  • Certified in food service sanitation practices and prevention of food borne illnesses (preferred)

WORK MAY REQUIRE:

  • Lifting objects 50 lbs
  • Bending, reaching, and grasping
  • Exposure to high noise, heat, and humidity levels
  • Standing for long periods on hard surfaces
