Cyndx is an Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing (NLP) platform that offers “search and discovery” solutions for entrepreneurs, start-ups, investors, and acquirers. Our subscription-based solution helps enhance capital raising, acquisitions, and other business opportunities. Through, large scale data collection and processing we offer our users a platform that hosts data on over 26 million companies world-wide and is used by some of the largest financial institutions in the world. Whether looking for companies similar to others that match specific profiles, or trying to identify whose who in a particular space, Cyndx addresses these problems with it tools.

We are currently looking for a Backend Software Engineering Manager to be responsible for our core engineering efforts on our backend platform team. In this role, you will be responsible for the velocity of the backend team, the quality of the final product and meeting the expectations of both internal and external stakeholders. As part of your responsibilities you will hire, scale, and develop a team capable of executing on product strategies and in alignment with a dynamic product roadmap. While this job is primarily focused on running part of the engineering organization, we are looking for someone who is equally comfortable helping wherever needed and pushing code with the rest of the team.

This role will be located in our West Palm Beach office. Please note that we are currently working on a hybrid model and this role is not available for remote candidates.

Responsibilities

• Structure and lead teams, individuals, and cross-functional relationships in a way that ensures productivity and transparent communication
• Write well designed, testable, efficient code
• Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
• Evaluate and deploy software tools, processes and metrics
• Provide structure, mentorship and organization for a global team of engineers to align with the strategic objectives of the company and execute the product roadmap efficiently
• Partner with Product leadership to implement continuous improvement, deployment and testing as part of the product delivery lifecycle
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders in product, design, security, etc. to set aggressive but achievable timelines and targets for Engineering deliverables while not sacrificing quality

Requirements

• 7 years of experience as a software engineer with a proven track record of leading Engineering teams, with a minimum of 2 years in a broad technical leadership role
• Proven leadership experience as an engineering manager or similar leadership role, leading a geographically distributed engineering team
• Able to rapidly identify, communicate, and drive to resolution of issues with multiple teams, leaders, and business stakeholders
• Experience with organizational design and structure for engineering teams with a demonstrated track record of effectively aligning engineering practices with organizational strategy to deliver business results
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming languages and modern software engineering concepts
• Have expertise with modern, large-scale distributed systems using cloud native architectures
• Previous experience in an engineering leadership role within a highly regulated industry, ideally fintech or other financial services working with institutional and retail products
• Possess knowledge of security practices and systems required to manage sensitive personal data
• Experience overseeing software testing, including test processes, unit testing, integration, system, acceptance, API and Browser testing
