Coastal Alabama Community College is Hiring a Director - Facilities Near Bay, AL

Position Summary

The Facilities Director is responsible for the day to day management of college facilities, maintenance, grounds, infrastructure, and property of an assigned region of the college’s service area.
Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System salary schedule C1.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

At a minimum, the essential functions of this position shall include:
  • Manages all facilities and grounds upkeep, maintenance and improvements.
  • Supervises maintenance supervisors and maintenance staff.
  • Manages maintenance of contractual services, to include janitorial services, HVAC controls and maintenance services, and any other related maintenance services.
  • Manages all purchasing, vendors, and payables related to facilities, grounds and maintenance.
  • Coordinates activities and services pertaining to the physical plant.
  • Assists in the coordination of facility renovations and construction projects.
  • Ensures all projects are handled according to ADA regulations, Alabama Department of Finance Division of Construction Management guidelines, and Alabama Public Works laws when applicable.
  • Coordinates the use of college facilities and property.
  • Manages scheduling of the air conditioning and heating requirements associated with facility utilization.
  • Ensures that all property related activities are in compliance with state policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Performs physical inventory, property tagging and provide a complete and accurate record of all capital items and fixed asset locations belonging to the College to the Purchasing Agent.
  • Manages and maintains a library of all college facility blueprints and renovation documents.
  • Assists in the managing of key and security access.
  • Provides detailed reporting of conditions, needs and assessments of facilities, and properties on a regular basis.
  • Generates reports and maintain databases related to facilities operations.
  • Manages maintenance work order system.
  • May coordinate the maintenance of the College’s fleet including, but not limited to the scheduling and/or coordination of transportation for college related events.

  • Ensures the positive promotion of the College and integration of all campuses within the College.
  • Is prompt and punctual in reporting for work, meetings, and office hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution OR equivalent recent relevant full-time work experience (two years of full-time recent relevant work experience for every one year of college).
  • Five (5) years of recent relevant experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.?
  • Three (3) years supervisory experience in one or more of the essential functions of the position.?
  • Ability to work flexible hours for events.
  • Experience in budget, planning, and data management.?
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.??
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.?
  • Ability to work well with others and work under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution OR equivalent recent relevant full-time work experience (two years of full-time recent relevant work experience for every one year of college).
  • Certifications in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, or ConstructionOR equivalent recent relevant full-time work experience (two years of full-time recent relevant work experience for every one year of college).
  • Experience working in an educational institution.
