IOC Construction is Hiring a Construction Project Manager Near Batavia, IL

IOC Construction is a Chicagoland-based capital construction and maintenance company, building long-lasting relationships with clients, founded in exceptional communication and dependable workmanship. The company performs work in multi-family, commercial, and healthcare markets with a customer first focus and agile mindset.

Primary Function:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to coordinate people and processes, develop detailed project plans, ensure resource availability and allocation, and effectively communicate with all internal and external stakeholders. As a Project Manager you are responsible for the overall organization, budget creation, contractor staffing, and timeline development of each project assigned. This role requires consistent collaboration with our construction management team who are responsible for reporting all field activity and reporting to project managers on large capital projects. Ensuring teams meet all scope and budget requirements while providing concrete guidance on priority of tasks in the most efficient way possible will be critical to the success of this position.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Plan all phases of the construction lifecycle from initiation to completion
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines are met
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors, hire contractors and allocate responsibilities
  • Supervise the work of construction management teams, giving guidance when needed
  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders through the project
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation throughout the project
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and budget

General Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Building Construction, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Architecture
  • 5-7 years of experience in project management within construction
  • Comfortable reading and understanding blueprints and drawings
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction, engineering, and architecture principles
  • Ability to budget, schedule, negotiate, and control costs
  • High degree of familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions
  • Strong leadership and management skills
