We are searching for a Field Engineer for a commercial concrete construction company based in Baltimore, MD. This is a direct-hire position with full benefits.
Job Purpose: Plans, develops, and successfully manages assigned construction layout through to completion; assists construction design with efficiency while maintaining safety through the use of proper methods and materials
Job Duties:
- Assist the project team in establishing the sequential steps involved in all processes with the scope of the project, and adapts schedules and tasks accordingly
- Troubleshoots and resolves concerns regarding structural design with project team
- Coordination and implementation of contract documents
- Check concrete forms for proper construction and desired pitch, depth, and alignment
- Updates contract documents to include all supplemental information
- Display competency with use of field surveying instruments
- Estimates concrete quantities
- Interprets blueprints and reads survey stakes to establish correct grades, make simple calculations to determine areas and volumes
- Ability to instruct and direct the work of unskilled and semi-skilled assistants
- Follow-up with subcontractors to ensure proper installation of their work
- Perform daily and routine maintenance of issued engineering equipment
- Attend all project meetings as required
- Make certain that all company-owned tools and equipment are being properly operated and maintained on site; report any problems to Site Superintendent
- Understand and follow lock out/tag out procedures
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
- Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MOSH/VOSH regulations for safe working procedures
- At least 4 years of field engineering experience
- Be at least legal working age due to the nature of working environment
- Pass pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and "Fit for Work” physical
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times
- Be willing to travel to job sites when required
- Be willing to work nights, weekends, overtime and some holidays when necessary
- Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures; both hot and cold
- Must have valid identification
- Have own small tools necessary for their trade
- Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred, but not required
- Reliable transportation
- Experience with formwork engineering methods
- Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in concrete construction site operations and maintenance
- Perform algebra and/or geometry
- Ability to work with personal computers and workstations to do word-processing, spreadsheets, and utilize appropriate engineering software; understanding of computer file management and use is essential
- Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required
