Creative Financial Staffing is Hiring a Claims Administrator Near Baltimore, MD

About the Company and Claims Administrator Opportunity:

  • Our new client is in the maritime industry and currently they are looking to add a Claims Administrator to their team and work from their Baltimore office.
    • This Claims Administrator role will begin on a contractual basis as soon as possible for the selected candidate. Opportunity for permanent hire depending on performance and fit!
  • Company boasts strong job tenure amongst team members. They are looking for someone who loyal, eager to learn, and can grow with the company into the Senior Claims role and stay long term. This person will spend 20 hours per week in the admin role, and 20 hours per week learning the senior position.
    • Company offers potential for bonus as well!
  • Reports to the Senior Claims Specialist
  • This position is 100% in office in Baltimore, MD. M-F 9am-5:30pm
    • Candidates must have reliable transportation. This company is not accessible by public transportation

Job Duties for the Claims Administrator:

  • Provide administrative and claims support including but not limited to:

    • Enter data from medical invoices into claims.
    • Receive, review, file, and/or email various reports and notifications.
    • Create, scan, copy, file, and/or distribute various documents.
    • Draft various documents and correspondence.
    • Support Insurance and Claims Department in litigation and claims management.
    • Create and organize claim files. Maintain and update claim files.
    • Assist with claims processing of vessel related damage and injury/illness claims.
    • Assist with claims processing of land-based employee workers' compensation, automobile, third party, and other claims.
    • Submit medical claims/invoices for audit with outside vendor, reduce audited claims, complete letter to provider serving as EOB, and submit to accounting.
    • Assist with data compilation and preparations for submitting claims for insurance reimbursement.
    • Assist with processing of payments, wages, along with other financial documentation.
    • Administer VICS with Insurance and Claims team to capture data needed for enhancements and additional reporting.
    • Complete applications for various insurance documents and certificates.
    • Participate in insurance and claims-related meetings.
    • Interact with managers, crew members, lawyers, contractors, and vendors within the context of insurance and claims.

Qualifications for the Claims Administrator:

  • 3 years' case management, fraud, insurance claims, and/or medical billing experience preferred or recent college grads looking to break into a new industry
    • Military, insurance, nursing, or maritime industry experience a plus, but not required
  • Associates degree or higher preferred, not required
  • Must be proficient with Excel and Word
  • Willingness and eager to learn, takes direction well, attention to detail, able to work with diverse personalities
  • Knowledge and understanding of Jones Act is beneficial (but not required)
