Purpose and Scope

Seasonal level support position in the Seed Quality Lab. The main responsibility for this job will be following instructions for replicated and pre-commercial testing effort, as well as participating in other facets of Beck’s quality lab. Employees at the Seasonal Lab Technician level report to the Seed Lab Manager on a day-to-day basis. *Availability between August 2024 -February 2025 required*

Responsibilities

 Independently follow instructions to complete seed test preparation for germination tests.

 Independently follow instructions to complete seed test analysis of seed purity checks and cold germination tests.

 Data entry of test results into the lab data management system.

 Periodic housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe and professional lab.

 Other duties as required by the Seed Lab Manager.

Job Requirements

Education and training:

 In High School, High School Diploma/GED preferred, experience helpful but not required.

 Ability to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record as determined by Beck’s automobile insurance policy preferred.

Technical knowledge

 Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 Agronomic and mechanical skills preferred

 Possess positive attitude

 Strong agricultural knowledge

 Ability to establish priorities, work independently, work as a team member, and proceed with objectives without supervision

 Skill to use personal computer and various software packages

 Possess a high level of attention to detail

Physical working conditions:

 Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time

 Good manual dexterity

 Able to work in an environment with dirt, seeds, and various plant material.

Experience

 Agriculture experience

 Lab research experience helpful
